Championship golf course in Northern Virginia
Mount Vernon Country Club features exceptional golfing facilities with its 18-hole championship golf course. The course offers seven tee selections, ranging from 4,935 to 6,366 yards, providing a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. There are eighteen hitting stations, along with a warm season Latitude 36 grass teeing area. Balls are available on the grass tee five days a week during the season, typically from mid-April to mid-October. In the off-season, a state-of-the-art range mat teeing area is accessible. Six target greens are set at distances from 65 to 215 yards. The course meanders through the original forest of George Washington's Mount Vernon plantation and is enhanced by Dogue Creek, a tidal tributary of the Potomac River, which presents water hazards on 14 of the 18 holes.
Practice areas feature: an 8,000 square foot USGA putting green, a warm-up chipping green with a 3,500 square foot area containing patches of fairway-height turf, and a short game facility with a 5,500 square foot green flanked by fairway grass and two greenside bunkers, tailored for diverse shots from 50 yards or less.

These family tees have been placed at yardages recommended by the PGA, specifically tailored to each hole on the front nine by the MVCC Professional Staff. Now, every family member can play from their appropriate set of tees and enhance their enjoyment of the round.
Extensive renovations have been made to the course over the years, most recently converting from bentgrass fairways to hybrid Bermuda, which has proven to be more environmentally friendly. A stream bank stabilization project has been completed, earning praise and grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Future beautification plans for the course will include a phased enhancement of Mount Vernon's standout feature, its mature tree population, introducing varieties and sizes that will preserve the challenge that makes the course unique in Northern Virginia.
Mount Vernon Country Club takes pride in being an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary golf course. These sanctuaries empower golf facilities to protect the environment by enhancing vital natural areas and wildlife habitats. As an Audubon Cooperative sanctuary, a golf facility must demonstrate its commitment to maintaining high standards of environmental quality in various areas, including Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Outreach and education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.
